The UK is making progress in decarbonising energy for heating and lighting our homes and businesses. The electricity comes from a variety of sources, including oil, gas, wind and solar power.
In households, we can make a great difference by installing heat pumps, which is a technology that warms our house from the air outside – or keeps it cool. The following short video, which the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland produced – explains the principle:
We can also switch to energy providers who source their energy from “greener” sources. You can look up this website from “Which?” – the consumer magazine, which explained green energy and gave a list in 2019 of green energy suppliers. CLICK HERE.
Businesses can do the same through their energy suppliers.
